Divesites

The Divesites near Coron Town are reachable within a 20 to 30min Boatride from the Easydiving Coron Diveshop at Westown Bayview Resort and we usually go out for 2 Tank Dives by Speedboat or local “Banka Boats”.

C.Y.C ISLAND

Depth : 2 to 20 meters

Recommended Certification Level: Snorkeler, Discover Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver

The divesite got ist name from Coron Youth Club and is located around a small island that can be reached by a 30 min boatride. At the sandy slopes around the island you will find quite nice coral gardens with a good variety of marine life. This is a popular site for Diver Training and also for snorkelers, but also experienced divers will have a great time.

The visibility varies from 5-20m and sometimes there can be strong current.

SIETE PECADOS

Depth : 4 to 24 meters

This reef is located at Coron Island ,only about 20 minutes boatride from Coron Town. It is a marine sanctuary for a couple of years so divers and snorkelers have to pay a fee there .

At the colourfull reefs slope one can find schooling Barracuda, Turtels, Cuttle Fish, Moray Eels, Stingrays, Nudibranches, Seahorses, Lobsters and the famous Mandarin Fish.

So this makes it a perfect divesite for Beginners an UW Photographers.

The visibility varies from 5-20m and sometimes there can be strong current.

TWIN PEAKS

Depth : 2 to 25 meters

Recommended Certification Level: Snorkeler, Discover Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver

This reef is right next to the entrance of Barracuda lake and consist of 2 small islands which are surrounded by sloping coral gardens.

There you can find Seahorse, Frog Fish, Mandarin Fish , Crocodile Fish and a big diversity of Reef Fish.

The visibility varies from 5-15m and there is usually no or small current.

ALCATRAZ REEF

Depth : 0 to 25m

Recommended Certification Level: Snorkeler, Discover Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver

This divesite is at an small island north of Coron island., it includes small walls , coral slopes and some sandy areas. Theres a big variety of Fish to find, also Nudibranch and Pipefish are common.

Visibility can be up to 20m and sometimes there can be strong current.

MALPADON REEF

Depth : 5 to 22m

Recommended Certification Level: Snorkeler, Discover Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver

This coral reef is situated at the south side of Sangat Island. It has a nice wall from 5 to 22m at its northern part and ther is also a hot spring at 5m.

You can see Crocodile Fish, Scorpion Fish, different kinds of Nudibranch and a resident Turtle.

Visibility around 15m and there is sometimes strong current.

BARRACUDA LAKE

Depth: 0 to 30 meters

This famous and unique divesite is located on the north side of coron island which you can reach by a 20 min boatride. The sites name is because of a big Barracuda that you can find inside the lake.

You have to do a few minutes climb over lime stones ,in full divegear, to enter the lake.

There is not so much marine life to find, but very unique looking rock formations and small caves will create a breathtaking atmosphere.

The main attraction of this lake is the thermocline at around 15m where the colder freshwater layer (28C) meets the hoter saltwater (37C).

Deeper than 30m is a jelly like brown layer with zero visibility caused by rotting leaves, it is not recommended do dive into that .

The visibility varies from 5-15m and there is no current.

CATHEDRAL CAVE

Depth: 0 to 12 meters

Recommended Certification Level: Advanced Open Water Diver , Cavern Diver

At about 6m you enter a tunnel and follow it down to 12m into the clear waters of Cathedral Cave. There you can surface and have a look at the stalactite / stalagmite formations. There is a hole at the top of the cave where sunlight finds its way into the dark and creates a mysterious atmosphere. On the bottom of the cave lies the skeleton of a huge tree which fell through the hole on top of the cave. If you continue UW at about 10m you will find another chamber with an air pocket above sea level. Once you return through the tunnel out in the sea you can continue your dive along find coral gardens with great visibility and lots of marine life.

This divesite can only be visited in calm weather conditions because rough weather will create a life threatening surge inside the tunnel.

The great visibility inside the cave is 20m and there is no current.
